Desi Quilters welcomes its 100th member today! DQ started as a fun group for quilters with a 'desi' attitude - quilters who had some Indian connection, either by birth, choice or attitude; quilters who were not afraid to break boundaries and experiment; quilters who aspired to grow wings and still have their feet grounded in their own roots; quilters for whom things like non-availability of even basic notions were never an impediment to learning. Well, hats off to such grit and perseverence. DQ salutes all such desis.
In celebration of becoming a 100 member strong group, DQ is announcing a giveaway to one lucky person who leaves a comment below on what it feels like to be part of this group. Our sponsors, BERNINA India, have kindly offered one of these step by step patterns as a prize for the lucky winner.
So, go ahead DQs and leave a comment telling us what you like best about being part of this group. Also tell us which pattern you'd like to win. And if you aren't a DQ yet, well join in!

ReplyDeleteThere are just so many reasons its fun to be a part of Desi Quilters..I will post my comment tomorrow :)
ReplyDeleteIt is being part of a fraternity that has a common goal....quilting and all that goes with it: friendship and camaraderie, sharing and learning, creating and experimenting, and above all a love of quilting!
ReplyDeleteIt is really a wonderful experience being a part of DQ ,got to know so many things regarding quilt making, lots of fun chatting with each other on some matter,So many QAL has made my time to fly too....Just love it...(Giveaway is mine too)Any one is ok for me....
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab giveaway....I'd love to win the star tablecloth pattern!!...What i like most is we can learn quilting and have lots of fun at the same time. And the DQs are all generous in sharing their knowledge of quilting on sewing in general...
ReplyDeleteYou know I never sewed more than a handkerchief and a mat in my life. I do buttons now, but while organizing Nirmalakka's Quilting Workshop for BuDa Folklore I joined the group. Yes, a complete novice but with a keen appreciation for quilts. Meeting you crazy gals at the workshop was quite a turning point for me. We moved to Bangalore 2 yrs back from the US. I miss my girlfriends and the connection we have...you DQers gave me that in those 3 days. Amazing stories, experiences, smiles, laughter, the warmth, and friendship. And yes, I did learn something about quilting. I appreciate what your group is doing--and I just loved meeting Tina, Veena, Uma, Damayanthi, Vidya (Baby) and Nikhat. Please excuse me if I left your name out, but you DQers are all great!! Also, Anjali and I now look at materials and scrap in a much different way!! Chaddi, chaddi, cha-a-di to all of you! Love and hugs, Mona
ReplyDeleteIt's warm and cozy here .... right from the time one tucks in :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best for the journey ahead!
I love the lively banter, the warmth that shines through each and every message and the lovely inspiration from the QALs ,the encouragement are just a few things that I like about DQ
ReplyDeleteDQ has life. People have synergy, warmth and "yes, we can do" attitude! It's been only 3 days into this group, but I feel that I have known you folks from a long time! All of you welcomed me with open arms and a big smile on your face! How can I not be into this group! Thank you for encouraging me to join!!!
